Meditation Club
About Us
We at the Meditation Club aim to promote the practice of meditation here at Lowell by increasing school-wide awareness of its many benefits, providing students with a place to meditate, and providing guidance for students who may be new to the idea altogether. We meet every Friday in the meditation lounge (located adjacent to the stairs leading from the arcade to the math wing, in the direction of the science building) to meditate, relax, and provide newer meditators with information and advice on getting the best out of meditation. We also meet in the meditation lounge to meditate nearly every day during registry. (Don’t worry! Your absence will be excused as an activity.) Delicious snacks are always provided, and our room is filled with couches, pillows, blankets, and awesome people to ensure your comfort!
We mainly practice transcendental meditation, but all kinds of meditation are available at your fingertips! We will also be sure to let members know when opportunities arise for meditation retreats and professional training (although many types of meditation, such as mindfulness, can be learned individually).
Meditation may seem difficult at first glance. You may think that you won’t be able to focus, or that the practice is complex and confusing to learn. The truth is that meditation is an incredibly diverse practice, and that most kinds of meditation are incredibly easy! With a minimum of effort, you can see positive results. And, if you have any questions, there are many experienced meditators around that will be happy to help you out however they can.
Meditation has been proven to improve memory, lower blood pressure, increase happiness, and so much more! It is a practice that goes back thousands of years, and for good reason! We truly believe that anyone can meditate, and that meditation is incredibly helpful in living a happy, healthy life.
