One thing I really love about Lowell is the fact that we are allowed an off campus lunch, so we can go to Stonestown and Lakeshore during our free mods and grab a bite. But after sleepless nights, multiple tests, and big language presentations, we don't always have the energy to make a trip off campus. Lucky for us, we have co-curricular days, where the food comes to you! The SBC Club Coordinator runs co-curricular days, and all the food sold goes to the clubs that are selling the products. On co-curricular days, clubs set up in the courtyard and arcade, and offer a variety of different and delicious foods! So whenever you see those cute food posters up, jot down that day and bring your cash! (Or you'll walk through the hallways smelling the aroma of fried food goodness and suffer from not being able eat any because you forgot to bring that money!) What better way to fill your stomach and help support your Lowell clubs than to buy something at co-curricular day!?
SIGNING UP FOR CO-CURRICULAR DAY: A form will be released on a certain day, about two or more weeks ahead of the scheduled Co-Curricular day. Each club or organization is responsible for printing out a form, filling it out thoroughly, and handing it to the SBC Club Coordinator. This is the traditional paper form, but depending on the Club Coordinator, an online form may be released and clubs are responsible for turning that in electronically. Food assignments are all a first come first serve system, we time stamp each form so everything is fair.
Winterfaire is always held on the last day of the Fall semester. It is basically the same as co-curricular day, except instead of cash, you have to buy tickets! Celebrate the end of the year or stuff yourself with comfort food (because the Lord knows I do after I get my final grades). Hot chocolate, egg nog, and peppermint bark! Winterfaire's assortments of food is more holiday centered.
The one major difference between Winterfaire and Co-Curricular day is that there is a Winterfaire performance! Individual performers or groups may sign up with the Events Coordinator to perform on the catwalk during the mods of Winterfaire. A big part that the Lowell community looks forward to is always the Social Studies performance!
The world language department holds their own food day called Kermesse to raise money for...well...the language department! This food day is centered around foods from all around the world/cultures. There is also a special Kermesse assembly/performance where different language clubs or other groups perform in the Carol Channing auditorium.
